Hey folks,
I hope you're finding an oasis for yourself no matter how unnecessarily barbaric the world around us might feel. Here are finds that kept me company this week:
- D&AD's TRENDING Super interesting report with what is alive and thriving in design. One great insight - "a shift away from graphic design as something that expresses content, to something that delivers content"
- STEREOTYPICAL Analysis of 3,000 AI images to see how image generators visualize different countries and cultures.
- K-POP STORIES K-pop videos hold the key to better, weirder storytelling.
- NOT-SO-SELF-CHECKOUT Retailers hoped to save big on labor costs by introducing self-checkout lanes. But it's not panning out - many stores still need real people to help customers with their purchases.
- EL NIÑO You should care about El Niño - a force in nature that’s so powerful it has been cited as at least partially responsible for wiping out ancient Peruvian civilizations, igniting the French Revolution, and teeing up one of the deadliest famines of the 19th century.
Oases of calm are around us or in us. Just need to look for them.
